The epidemiological surveillance is strengthened

The authorities of this eastern Cuban province indicated to strengthen epidemiological control in a part of the Santos district because of the detection of several positive cases of the new coronavirus in residents of that neighborhood of the provincial capital.

Las Tunas, Cuba.– In the last 15 days, five cases of the COVID-19 have been confirmed in Constituency 70, north of this eastern Cuban city; and although several of them were in isolation centers at the time of diagnosis, immediately the Provincial Defense Council (CDP) indicated - among other actions - the expansion of the active heath inquiry, and the expansion of the communal sanitation work in the aforementioned neighborhood.

It also aimed to ensure the proper assortment of key resources such as water and chlorine in that area. In addition, the different members of the political and mass organizations in that community were activated to pay special attention to vulnerable people. At the same time, it was anticipated that the presence of public order forces and comprehensive inspection bodies will increase there in order to prevent the violation of established sanitary measures such as the use of the face mask and the maintenance the physical distancing.

Although the epidemiological panorama of that site still does not require more drastic steps to limit the mobility of its inhabitants, Public Health specialists advise residents not to leave their homes unnecessarily and seek medical attention if any suspicious symptoms appear.
