COVID-19 in Las Tunas

The number of positive cases for the new coronavirus that impact the incidence rate of the COVID-19 Las Tunas province reached 20 on Tuesday, which for the last 15 days is 0.56 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The patient reported on August 18 is a 35-year-old citizen residing in the provincial capital, detected as part of the focus control study around the 3-year-old child informed as positive on the past 9 of August; 23 contacts are kept under surveillance.

Dr. Diego Álvarez Dopazo, director of the Provincial Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology, explained that the patient, the father of the aforementioned infant, was in an isolation center and asymptomatic at the time of his diagnosis.

The detection now of this case, Dopazo clarified, does not imply any violation of the established procedures, since the PCR was carried out at the time indicated by the current protocols.

The patient went to the ward enabled for confirmed cases at the Ernesto Guevara de la Serna general teaching hospital, in Las Tunas city. There, he commented, the collaborator detected as an imported case on August 9 continues with good evolution.
