We must maintain hygienic measures, physical distance and the use of the facemask in public places

The suspected COVID-19 patient, detected in the Arroyón community, "Jesús Menéndez", and his three contacts tested negative for the disease, health authorities reported. However, they said, 19 travelers from countries such as Italy, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, France, Germany and Spain remain isolated.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- In this recovery stage, the active inquiry to identify possible cases is not stopped. Only yesterday, 150,196 people were investigated and none was reported with respiratory symptoms. More than 5,300 PCR studies have already been carried out here, as part of epidemiological surveillance.

Gregory Pérez Héctor, deputy director of Health, called on the population to contribute to the identification of travelers from Havana, to maintain control over these people and isolate them if they have any symptoms.

He also spoke of the need to maintain hygienic measures, physical distance and the use of the facemask in public places where there are crowds at this stage.

The doctor warned about other common diseases in the summer season; among them the acute diarrheal (EDA, in Spanish) and of food transmission. Hand washing and food preparation and preservation, he insisted, are vital to prevent them.

“We should not forget the arbovirus since today the province maintains a high rate of infestation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Therefore, we ask for the participation of our people to eliminate the containers that may be breeding grounds for the vector, clean the patios and comply with the other auto focal measures.”

He assured that although isolated cases of dengue have been detected, there is no local transmission. In the province, he added, serotype 1 of the disease circulates today, so "we must not let our guard down."
