The strict sanitary measures are maintained

In tune with the start here of phase 1 of the recovery from the pandemic of the new coronavirus, public and private passenger transport resumed on Thursday in this eastern Cuban province; although the strict sanitary measures and the suspension of interprovincial transportation are maintained.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- In accordance with the details disclosed by the Passenger and General Cargo Transportation Company (CARDINAL), starting on June 18, public passenger transport resumed in urban, suburban, inter-municipal and rural routes. In the provincial capital, routes 1, 6, 7 and 10 were activated. In destinations to and from the municipalities, this entity has scheduled two daily trips: at the beginning and end of each day. In all cases, he said, the occupation of these vehicles will cover all seats and half the capacity of the space for standing passengers.

In order to ensure compliance with these standards, especially those related to the occupation of the buses and the mandatory use of the protective mask, CARDINAL anticipated that workers and cadres of the sector together with the inspectors will be at all stops of a high concentration of passengers.

Private carriers could restart their operations to and from the municipalities, allowing them to occupy all of the seats and 50 percent of the standing capacity in the case of trucks and vans; in cars, at 100 percent; while horse-drawn carriage and pedicabs can only occupy half of their capacities.

The Entity assured that it will continue to provide the transfer service for the workers of the Ernesto Guevara and the Mártires de Las Tunas (pediatric) hospitals; as well as, the special mass transportation contracted by the agencies.

CARDINAL stressed that the operation of the boarding points and the requirement for state vehicles to pick up passengers remain suspended. Likewise, interprovincial transportation is still not allowed, "except for medical discharge services, patient transfers, passengers arriving on international flights and exceptional cases approved by the Provincial Defense Councils.”
