Guillermo Domínguez hospital, in Puerto Padre

Starting on Friday, June 5, the Guillermo Domínguez López General Teaching Hospital, in the city of Puerto Padre, north of this eastern Cuban province, will gradually return its services.

Puerto Padre, Las Tunas.- Dr. Viviana Gutiérrez Rodríguez, head of the Provincial Health Subgroup, made the announce during the meeting of the Municipal Defense Council.

In the working session, led by the president and vice-president of the Provincial Defense Council, Manuel René Pérez Gallego and Jaime Ernesto Chiang Vega, respectively, the specialist explained that the epidemiological situation of COVID-19 in the region was taken into account in making that decision.

The Psychiatry wards and operating rooms will be among the first services that will reopen in the assistance unit after a process of disinfection of the premises, Gutiérrez Rodríguez explained.

Last April, the main healthcare facility in the north of Las Tunas was enabled to deal with positive cases of cOVID-19, as a precaution, in case the epidemiological panorama in this territory worsened. Finally, positive cases for the new coronavirus were not cared, but suspected for acute respiratory infections.

The preventive measures implied that several of the services provided in the “Guillermo Domínguez” were temporarily transferred to the local Romárico Oro polyclinic and to the Ernesto Guevara de la Serna General Teaching Hospital.
