Dedicating as many hours as possible to study should be on the priorities of learners

Watching the teleclasses and dedicating as many hours as possible to study should be the priorities of the more than 83 thousand students belonging to General Education in the territory, given the impossibility of restarting the school year yet.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Nílser Piñeda Cruz, provincial director of Education, explained that when conditions allow it, all the processes corresponding to the closing of the school calendar will be carried out in an orderly manner, such as final tests, entrance exams, granting of places and teaching changes. For the moment, he argued, "the most important thing is that they comply with the measures that have been indicated to preserve life."

Piñeda Cruz said that "one of the greatest family concerns is the entrance exams to Higher Education." Starting April 27, a cycle of activities begins, dedicating one hour to each subject. The teachers made an evaluation of the most difficult content and the most frequent errors that are committed, in order to place greater emphasis on them; in addition, telephones and emails are available for students to make requests for content and communicate their doubts.

Taking into account that this new stage coincides with the beginning of the third and last period of the school year, they emphasize the necessary support from the family so that the students deepen in subjects. It is recalled that the professionals of the sector in Las Tunas are in the willingness and duty to collaborate with the preparation of the students through the different established communication channels.

In her appearance at the Round Table, the Minister of Education, Ph.D. Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, reported that our country has an educational system empowered to adapt the curriculum, which coincides with what internationally must be known according to the grade and level. "The Cuban family must have confidence that the students will pass grade and level according to their abilities and having all the opportunities," she assured.

She specified that it is always evaluated that the student is not affected and when it was decided to stop the course, 70 percent of the school weeks had already been completed, which together with the teleclasses, allows for final evaluations when activities resume. In addition, they will spend a few weeks to consolidate, before imparting new content and making any evaluation, she explained.

On the programming schedule from April 20, she announced four new spaces for the ninth grade, on Fridays, from 9:30 in the morning. The National Institute of Sports, Recreation and Physical Education (INDER) joins the broadcast on Fridays, from 5:00 to 7:00 in the evening on Tele Rebelde, with subjects such as Anatomy and Basic Gymnastics.

Mathematics, Spanish and History for the pre-university level and Professional Technical Education will have one hour of classes from April 27. The activities of pedagogical training will continue to be taught by Tele Rebelde, and subjects will be incorporated for these students. The Ministry of Culture also joins the experience on the 27th in the morning, from 8:00 to 9:00, with disciplines such as Solfeggio, Basic Piano, Voice and Diction.

Velázquez Cobiella clarified that the recruitment and admission processes, as well as the graduations, are postponed until the current epidemiological situation passes. With regard to those who are in the ninth grade, the aim is to disclose the place plan for continuity of studies when possible and develop the filling of the ballots, with the subsequent granting according to the ranking. Schoolchildren who have completed the ninth grade at the Vocational Pre-university Institute of Exact Sciences maintain their place.
