nNw assortments made from the use of soy and whey are distributed in the trade networks.Las Tunas Dairy Products Company faces the challenge of expanding and diversifying its productions by making optimal use of resources and with the aim of bringing more food to the families, in times tinged by the threat of the new coronavirus.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Osmani Atencio Legrá, technical director of production in the entity, assures 26Digital that currently new assortments made from the use of soy and whey are distributed in the trade networks.

“Recently we made a new drink available to the population: flavored whey, which is a by-product of the cheese process and has high nutritional values.
"Soon we will be producing for the first time the soy ice cream shake, from this last raw material and the sweet of soy milk, whose components are whey and cottage cheese.

"We were called to diversify productions and we are working towards that goal. We are guaranteed the raw material to take on the task, even when we are dealing with the dry period that significantly limits the collection of milk.”

The executive added that the company currently distributes large volumes of soy yogurt, and they have exceeded 120 percent sales plans, managing to distribute it not only in the capital city but in the rest of the municipalities, in bulk.

He also explained that they continue the elaboration of products derived from whey: Miragurt, based on whey, cornstarch, sugar and flavoring, and cottage cheese, which will soon be marketed, in addition to those made with soy, such as cheese.

Atencio Legrá assured that the quota of fluid milk for children and medical diets is guaranteed, and pointed out that flavored soy milk is also sold in the units.

The group of workers has a great sense of belonging and they are committed in the face of the challenge of putting more options on the table in Las Tunas. Given the inactivity of Tourism, they direct cheese and natural yogurt, which were previously destined for the sector, to the entity of Palmares and the Caribe, Cimex and Caracol store chains in the territory.
