Italia thanks Cuban solidarity assitance against COVID-19

MediCubaEuropa's call for emergency aid to support Cuban medical care in the fight against the spread of the new coronavirus was quickly supported by associations and non-governmental organizations from 13 European countries in solidarity with the Cuban Revolution.

Las Tunas, Cuba - The announcement, for example, mobilized the Finnish-Cuban Friendship Association, which announced the number of a bank account for its members to place funds that will later finance medical equipment or supplies to help the island in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. The membership response was immediate with several notifications of the first money transfers.

Cuban health care is in a very difficult situation due to the tightening of the U.S. blockade, the association said, noting that not even the scourge of the worst health emergency known to the world in recent days has caused Washington to relax its economic siege on Cuba. Cubans help other countries with their experience; we can help Cubans, said the association.

In recent days, the Commission on Human Rights, along with other international organizations and citizens from around the world, has increased its calls on the Trump Administration to end the economic sanctions against Havana, so that Cuban authorities have better access to raw materials and critical products to deal with the spread of the new coronavirus.
