Executives, health personnel, and patients of the Guillermo Domínguez Hospital, located in the municipality of Puerto Padre, thanked a donation of items from Transport workers and Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco trade unionists from Las Tunas.

Donation for the Guillermo Domínguez HospitalPuerto Padre, Las Tunas.- In a fraternal act, bus number 1676 of the National Bus Company, driven by Carlos Osorio, arrived very early at the health institution loaded with hygiene, cleaning, and office supplies, some food, and protective articles for healthcare personnel who care for SARS-CoV-2 positive patients.

“For those of us who know the practice of helping others, under any circumstances, it is not surprising that these things happen in the territory. This donation is an act of gratitude, a gesture in which we impregnate our best wishes with hope so that these difficult moments pass in a more relieved way,” Carlos Antonio Cruz Pagán, secretary of the National Union of Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco Workers in Las Tunas, explained.

"Love, dedication and humanity, is what we have put into each of these donations, just as those brave men do in the red zone to save lives," Jesús Rodríguez Cruz, provincial director of the National Bus Company, said. "We share everything we have and we will continue to do so, as a sign of our principles," he added.

Our staff needs these items very much, acknowledged Dr. Maikel Fernández López, deputy director of the Puerto Padre's hospital, after thanking the gesture of high human value.

"Undoubtedly, it is a sign of love in the face of this difficult situation and shows in our hearts the goodness and beauty of solidarity that characterizes those who come here with great altruism."

"All donations are appreciated not only by the workers but also by the patients and their families," the doctor said. “Each of these assortments will guarantee a better service to those who are here going through a complex moment. We always find a social benefit to everything that is contributed; for example, soap, so important for convalescent patients who are bedridden and the constant cleaning of our hands,” Fernández López emphasized.

The Guillermo Domínguez hospital treats diagnosed cases with COVID-19 with greater risks to face the disease, throughout the province. Currently, about 250 positive patients are admitted to the institution.
