Cuban authorities will continue the clarification work about the fate of kidnaped doctors.

Cuba continues to make pertinent efforts to clarify the situation of kidnapped Doctors Assel Herrera Correa and Landy Rodríguez Hernández, whose alleged deaths were disclosed on February 17.

Havana, Cuba.- In a statement released on Friday, the Cuban Foreign Ministry (MINREX) noted that the information obtained so far does not allow definitive conclusions.

The Foreign Ministry indicated that the details provided by the Kenyan Government were carefully examined during the visit of the special envoy and president of the National People’s Power Assembly (Parliament), Esteban Lazo, in both the meeting with President William Ruto and other subsequent meetings.

“Although they are valuable and help guide the investigation, there are questions that need to be answered,” the statement added

The MINREX stressed that the efforts with other governments have continued, including that of the United States, which was requested to provide precise information on the events on the indicated date.

The Foreign Ministry noted that cooperation was sought from US authorities to provide elements that help clarify the situation of the Cuban physicians and a response to that request is expected.

It assured that Cuban authorities continue the clarification work with the necessary persistence and rigor, through direct and indirect means, and with various interlocutors, without ruling out any opportunity to try to learn the entire truth of what happened. (PL)
