Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel denied an alleged offer of aid from the U.S. government to confront COVID-19 and affirmed that, instead, the economic siege was strengthened.

Havana, Cuba.- In his Twitter account, the president said that the only thing that the U.S. administration promised and fulfilled regarding the Caribbean nation in times of pandemic, "is an opportunistic tightening of the blockade."

The day before, Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, assured on the same social network that Washington had not provided vaccines or other resources to counteract the pandemic in his country.

Rodríguez denied "with all responsibility" that the White House offered help to Cuba during the international emergency, and pointed out that in reality, it dedicated all its efforts to "hindering the purchase of supplies for the vaccination program and the national production of medicines".

The Head of Cuban diplomacy recalled that the United States not only maintains the 243 "inhumane measures" of former president Donald Trump (2017-2021), but it did not even include the Caribbean nation among the States to which they lifted the unilateral measures that limited their ability to face Covid-19.
