Artist from eight nations attend the Cucalambeana Fiesta.

The Cucalambeana Fiesta has traditionally managed to bring together artists from different nations in what has become an intercontinental embrace of identity. On this occasion, representatives from eight nations meet at the Balcón de Oriente (Cuban Eastern Balcony) to share the best of their idiosyncrasy and strengthen ties of friendship between our peoples.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Friends have come from Mexico, Honduras, Chile, Timor-Leste, Denmark..., and even from the nation of Cleopatra and the famous pyramids. The revelry is honored by His Excellency Mr. Maher El-Adawy, Egyptian ambassador to Cuba, in charge of a conference in the theoretical space. Other diplomatic authorities also joined, such as His Excellency Mr. Eusebio Corsino de Araújo, Ambassador of Timor-Leste in Cuba, and Germán L. Cruz Paz, councilor of the municipality of La Ceiba, Honduras.

Several groups accompany us from the Aztec land, among them the Alma de México folkloric ballet, which comes for the first time and has performed on different stages, both in El Cornito and in the city environment.

In dialogue with 26, María de los Ángeles Núñez, its deputy director, expressed: "Our land and yours have similarities in terms of joy, merriment, and love for culture. Here, we have fundamentally presented dances from the states of Jalisco and Sinaloa."

Meanwhile, Eulalio Villalobos, the director of the dance group, added: "It is a great pleasure to share with the Cubans. We are happy and excited to be here, showing our culture and representing 120 million Mexicans." According to the leader, in almost 27 years of experience, they have toured a dozen countries, but Cuba will surely leave an indelible mark on their memory.

The Yat Balam folkloric group, from Honduras, also attends the Major Guateque of this Island for the first time. Its members do not hide their enthusiasm. Some of its dancers, representing the 14 members of the cast told about it. Xiomara Peralta said: "I found it quite an interesting experience to meet new people and show our folklore, what is lived in our country." For her part, Diana Zavala claimed: "We represent the Misquita and Garífuna ethnic groups in our dances, as well as others representative from the different departments of our country."

Lizeth Bados expressed her pride in coming from the state of La Ceiba and affirms: "It is a dream to know Cuba. I love its culture and history. Our group, created in 2009, before coming here, toured other nations such as Mexico and Guatemala. Now, with much encouragement and pleasure, we are here."

Clarissa Martínez also commented on her satisfaction with representing "an Afro-Honduran group, descendants of Africans, which is the Garífuna people, located along the entire north coast of the country and, in this event, in addition to the Garífuna dance, we interpret a war dance called yancunu."

Another novelty within the festivity has been the musical-dance presentations of Canarian lineage. And one aspect that stands out is that, in addition to public performances, several foreign artists socialize in theoretical spaces on typical features of their identity. The Cucalambeana Fiesta, thus, becomes once again an international embrace in favor of universal culture.
