Late poet and writer Antonio Borrego

"It is a luxury to walk the lines of La eternidad no basta para todos (Eternity is not enough for everyone), a collection of poems overflowing with experiential reflections," acknowledged the writer Argel Fernández Granado when presenting this text at the Provincial Committee of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).

Las Tunas, Cuba.- During the 53rd Cucalambeana Fiesta (online), we had a first approach to this book, which its author, Antonio Borrego, could not see published; and now the Fulgencio Oroz bookstore, in the capital city, and similar institutions, have on their shelves the valuable notebook, issued by the Sanlope publishing house.

The book is composed of 91 sonnets that capture the metaphors and images and return them to us with the precise cadence. Roberto Manzano affirms in the prologue: "Antonio Borrego feels within himself the music of the verse, and the blue finger of poetry goes down to the page, enters the form and weaves its mother-of-pearl.”

In Última Voluntad (Last Will) Tony expresses from his overflowing lyrical stream: "To die I demand a spyglass/ that shows the misfortunes of another world / If the sky with the earth I confuse/ I will glimpse some map in my brow..."

He speaks to us from his place in eternity (that space reserved for the great poets) of experiences, loves, tears, observations ... Whoever was also a narrator and editor gives away, even after death, these necessary moments with literature, precisely, in a stanza that can be a kind of Rubik's cube for those who retrace their path.

Borrego is considered by many to be the most important poet of his generation. Los días de Dios (The days of God), Diapositivas (Slides), Juegos Lunares (Lunar Games) and his other books survive into oblivion that is why his colleague Carlos Esquivel summarizes in "thunderous naturalness, display of signs that do not resent the magic sign of his memory, the righteous act of lavishing a poetic channel of high ontological and philosophical value.”

If you are passionate about reading, you will understand the unforgivable of ignoring this title. If, on the other hand, you do not like to read, I advise you to buy a copy, it would not only be a way to revive the poet, you will also feel more alive.
