Jorge Pérez's wife receiving recognition

Two internationalists from Las Tunas, who are part of the Cultura Corazón Adentro mission in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, received the Corazón de Gigante award, delivered by the José Martí Brigade (BJM), as part of the tribute activities for the 94th birthday of the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The first honoree was Mariela Boffil Mariño, an art instructor at the Eusebio Valera cultural center, from Calixto, in the municipality of Majibacoa, who remains in the state of Monagas contributing to the cultural development of the different municipalities and parishes, by teaching and promoting various artistic expressions.

Journalist Jorge Pérez Cruz, from the weekly Trabajadores and a resident in this city, whose letters systematically reach Cuban newspapers to disseminate the extraordinary work of collaborators in various socioeconomic sectors such as health, sports, culture and education, was also awarded.

Although Mariela and Jorge are not in the homeland, their relatives, co-workers and neighbors were part of the homages, in which the message of Emilio Orlando Toledo, national president of the art instructors organization, was read and some gifts were given, in addition to the exchange with those present.

Baire Cartaya Peña, president of the Brigade in the territory of Las Tunas, explained that throughout the summer they have carried out numerous activities to highlight the legacy of the invincible Cuban leader, organized in conjunction with the Hermanos Saíz Association and the Young Communists League (UJC).
