The Catauro de la Décima is traditionally one of the most awaited sections of the Cucalambeana Fiesta. This time, given the circumstances of the pandemic and the online nature of the event, the Organizing Committee decided to divide it into three, in charge of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and the Provincial Book and Literature Center, including the Sanlope publishing house.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- The presentations of notebooks of verses constitute the main dish of these invitations, approaching the work of young writers such as Liliana Rodríguez - Work: Crepusculares (Twilight) -, and Júnior Fernández Guerra - Text: Extraños ritos del alma (Strange rites of the soul) -; both winners of the prestigious Cucalambé Prize, in written décima; although the work of other new talents is also promoted, including Alexánder Jiménez del Toro, who won the Pinos Nuevos Award this year.
Throughout the 53rd edition of the Cucalambeana Fiesta, users will be able to enjoy other proposals such as the presentation of literary volumes by established authors, in the style of Adalberto Hechavarría, Domingo Peña and Antonio Borrego. In that case, the books Todos los trenes pasan por Omaja (All trains go through Omaja), Con el gesto del bufón (With the gesture of the jester) and La eternidad no basta para todos (Eternity is not enough for everyone), which were edited by the Montaraz collection, of the Sanlope publishing house, are presented.
On Monday it was shared on the Internet All the trains go through Omaja, by Adalberto Hechavarría, which according to its editor and presenter Argel Fernández Granado consists of around 100 sonnets, all of indisputable quality.
“As it is a reprint new titles were included, poems and other details were readjusted. I am happy not only with its content, but also with the cover design, made by Leoarmis Ojeda, very much in tune with the message inside,” added the representative of the Casa de las Américas in this eastern province.
Eternity is not enough for everyone, the presentation on Tuesday, stands as one of the most awaited proposals, having an added value (in addition to its literary quality), as it is the last book published to date by the creator of Speech of a single man, Antonio Borrego, who, although sadly passed away in 2019, left several unpublished works.
As part of the Catauro de la Décima, virtual exhibitions are also shared. The colors of my country, by the plastic artist Juan Manuel Velázquez Fernández, for example, became an embrace of the typical Cuban nature in its entire splendor, on the first day of the event.
According to Andrés Borrero, director of “Sanlope,” the fundamental idea is to disclose the work of our writers, although there are other propositions. For this reason, promotional videos are within the invitations of the section, which is released through the digital platfforms Facebook and YouTube.
