So far this year, the few blackouts have not exceeded 30 minutes during the peak hours

The Electric Company in Las Tunas warns about possible blackouts depending on the behavior of electricity generation concerning the consumption, which, during winter days, decreased considerably. Hence the smaller deficit.

So far this year, the few blackouts have not exceeded 30 minutes during the peak hours, at a time when there is greater energy consumption and the need to turn off some areas due to overload.

“Until now, the country plans maintenance works at the large plants in the first four months of the year, when temperatures tend to drop and, therefore, consumption levels. The planning seeks to get these machines ready to ensure the summer,” explained Yordis Vega Espinosa, the director of the Provincial Cargo Office.

The management of the entity has among its strategies, if necessary to resume the affectations due to lack of energy generation, to return to the planning based on the 87 previously implemented when the two blocks of blackouts were managed; although, it is expected that the time without electricity will be minimal during this first period.

“The affectations will happen during peak hours and with few megawatts, there will not be many circuits involved. It is expected that they will happen once or twice a week starting with the first circuit until reaching the last one, and it will happen only in case the load increases.

“If during these repairs more than one thermoelectric goes offline, it will be necessary to resume that rotation. In any case, Las Tunas will be informed through the pertinent channels”, concluded Vega Espinosa.
