Changes are made in the electric pumps with motors with consumption of less than 10 kw

More than 73 thousand kilowatts (kW) per month will be saved for the National Electroenergy System with the change of matrix in the pumping stations of the Aqueduct and Sewerage Company of Las Tunas, which will result in a decrease in expenses of about 260 thousand pesos on average each month.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Oscar Carralero Suárez, director of the entity, assured the Cuban News Agency that of the 216 existing water supply systems in the eight municipalities of Las Tunas, about 70 percent will benefit from these transformations.

The changes are made in the electric pumps with motors with consumption of less than 10 KW and to date the installation has been achieved in about seven of those to be executed and a score in the process of execution, which should begin to generate electricity in the coming weeks.

One of the pioneers in this sense was the rural community of Cruce de San Joaquín in Majibacoa, which has benefited from the water supply thanks to the power generated from solar light since March 22 this year, a reality that has been extended to other nearby localities such as El Corojo.

It is worth highlighting the need for social care because of the vulnerability of this equipment since their useful life will depend on the way they are protected, said Carralero Suárez, who also added that in some cases hybrid panels have been installed to extend the operating hours.

Since last March, the province has been involved in the process with the training of a brigade specialized in these functions, which first received the preparatory phase in Cienfuegos to avoid possible errors typical of these engineering procedures, so we can ensure that everything is done with quality and skill, added the executive.

Due to the country's electro-energy situation and the technical wear in the infrastructure for the supply of water to the population, agriculture, and industry, Las Tunas has projected a gradual and sustained progress in the transition to clean and renewable energies and with it also the protection of the environment.
