Jobabo hosts main July 26th celebration in Las Tunas

The opening, renovation, and revival of economic, service, and social facilities are at the center of what is happening in the municipality of Jobabo, the venue of the July 26 event, National Rebellion Day, in the province of Las Tunas.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Blanca Rabelo Santana, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in that southern territory, remarked exclusively to the Cuban News Agency about the participation of the people in the constructive movement to celebrate the anniversary on the 15th.

The political leader stressed that thanks to popular mobilization and the assimilation of assigned tasks in the different sectors, works of great impact will be ready in Jobabo, such as a canning factory with the capacity to process one ton of vegetables per hour.

This industry is located in a part of the area occupied by the former Perú sugar mill, while in the old Makenaf factory, there is a complex for the promotion of fingerlings, as well as an animal feed plant, and a carpentry workshop, among other units.

In Jobabo, six cabins of the 30 de Diciembre motel were recovered, which is not working due to the deterioration of its facilities. A veterinary clinic will be opened at the Manifesto de Montecristi agricultural polytechnic institute, and the Paris hotel was renovated.

Outside its urban center, the municipality is distinguished by Monte Cabaniguán, a protected area that constitutes the world's largest reserve of the American crocodile (Cocodrylus acutus).

Jobabo inhabitants are proud that the first slave rebellion in America took place in their territory, in 1533, in the gold mines of Caobilla, according to historian and researcher José Luciano Franco; besides being the scene of the battle of Palo Seco, led in 1873 by Generalissimo Máximo Gómez Báez.
