26 Newspaper is celebrating the anniverary 45 of its foundation.

Continuators of a history of sacrifice and humanism, aware that the best edition will always be the next one, the workers of the Periódico 26, in Las Tunas, celebrated the 45th anniversary of its creation.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Despite the time, 26 continues to be that place where common dreams are promoted, and the limit is only the ability to create, as it was ratified in the commemoration held in the Hall of the Generals of the Major General Vicente García González Revolution Plaz, in this eastern city.

Having received one of the national prizes for innovation and being among the media chosen in the country for experimentation with the new press model, driven by the approval of the new Social Communication Law, stand out among the most recent recognitions achieved by the Las Tunas newspaper.

Yelaine Martínez Herrera, István Ojeda Bello, Yleidis Masso Peña, and the photojournalist Reynaldo Emilio López Peña were recognized as the most outstanding workers; while Jorge Pedro González received the Raúl Gómez García distinction awarded by the National Union of Culture.

Some of those who did not sleep on the eve of that July 26, 1978, and are still actively contributing, including Roberto Escobar Aparicio, Juan Soto Cutiño, and Ramiro Segura García, were also homage at this celebration.

The first newspaper was a legitimate birth of faith and love, as now happens with the printed version on Fridays, the daily digital edition, and the profiles on social media platforms, it was said in this celebration for nine lustrums of life.

When referring to the current challenges and the imprint that keeps them in suspense, Dayana Menzoney Justiz, a young reporter and also a union leader, ratified the commitment to make journalism more and more attached to the truth, in which Las Tunas' inhabitants could see themselves more reflected every day.

Miguel Brito Fernández, head of the ideological department of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), when addressing the workers of the newspaper and the guests, conveyed congratulations and recognition on behalf of the people of Las Tunas, and urged to continue being paradigms of the revolutionary and innovative press model that is needed in these times.
