The Day of Defense, held this Saturday in Las Tunas, aimed its activities at perfecting the cohesion of the work in the organization of the territorial defense in times of crisis, and actions against systematic exhaustion.

Las Tunas, Cuba - In each of the Defense Councils of the eight municipalities, except Majibacoa, the fighters of the Revolutionary Armed Forces developed the training of the defensive apparatus during the transition to the state of war, with emphasis on the preparation of the different personnel categories to ensure the armed struggle.

The central activities were held in the rural community of Hermanos Mayo, in the Las Tunas municipality, where the Defense Zone was characterized. Its president explained the organization of the administrative work to put it in full combat readiness and the transition of its structure to a state of war, with special attention to the guarantees of the armed struggle.

The members of the Territorial Troop Militias and the Production and Defense Brigades carried out various exercises, such as the arming and disarming of infantry weapons, shooting with reduced calibers, the use of means of protection against weapons of mass extermination, and other actions to repel any attempt of armed aggression against the nation.

The president of the Provincial Defense Council, Manuel René Pérez Gallego, insisted on achieving a better definition of the potential of the area to guarantee food for the inhabitants of the community, in addition to evaluating the work of the Surveillance Detachments to confront crime actions.

The top authorities of the province toured “Hermanos Mayo” and spoke with farmers and representatives of production units about the importance of increasing the volumes of food for the people due to the complex economic situation, which responds to the preparation for defense that covers all sectors of society.

In the rest of the region of Las Tunas, the missions were specified, from the warning and incorporation of troops, deconcentrating and evacuation of the resources required by the Revolutionary Armed Forces, practical classes on the protection of objectives, shooting exercises, and activities related to food production.
