A slight improvement in the transportation of people in Las Tunas

Even though there are still many dissatisfactions among the population about public transportation services, the Provincial Bureau of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) in Las Tunas recognizes that there is a slight improvement in its performance, due to a better organization of the means at its disposal.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- At a recent meeting, that executive body discussed a critical report on the subject which, however, shows how progress is being made in transportation, especially the motorcycle cab service, with work superior to that of previous stages; which -of course- has a favorable impact on the population, although there are still deficiencies that must be eradicated.

The electric cars and tricycles, with notable alterations in the prices approved by the administration councils and the bad opinion of the population, present a critical situation.

Regarding the specific work on cars, there has been a work aimed at the organization, with the identification of these means of transport through the use of stickers, which are removed by the car owners so that they cannot be identified by the population. In addition, there is no real confrontation to solve the problem, which must be reversed now.

In Las Tunas, many electric tricycles operate without authorization or licenses to transport passengers and worse, with abusive prices. The leased buses require a separate look, which needs more control because they do not stop at the bus stops or comply with the approved prices.

The member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in the province oriented to perfect the work of the confrontation group because the violations indicate that there is a lack of rigor in the analysis and combativeness in the face of the high prices of the coachmen and other carriers, as well as to strengthen the functioning of the base organizations of the Party.

He said that it is necessary to conclude the strategy of rescuing bus routes in the city and rural areas, to solve the lack of transportation in the provincial hospitals for the workers who finish their work at night and have no way to get home.

He offered some ideas on what can be done to better organize the service with the existing means, on which we must work tirelessly to meet the needs of the population.

It is necessary to put an end to the generalized tendency that transportation does not work if it is not rented, to solve the problem of the cars and their prices, to organize the ranks, and to face the indiscipline of the electric equipment not authorized to transport, to organize it with the established prices, besides thinking of a base to which the people can call at any time and which will pick them up at their homes, the First Secretary pointed out.

It is also necessary to create ranks in some schools and important work centers and to continue linking the trucks to specific routes in the city in the most complex schedules.
