EsculTunas will be presented at the Cibersociedad Congress, together with initiatives from the other four provinces that make up the co-Lab network

EsculTunas is the name of the winning application of the innovation challenge launched by the project co-Lab Las Tunas as part of the Laboratory "Capital of Cuban Sculpture", an IT solution that this province will present at the Cibersociety Congress, which runs from today October 20th.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Dayalé Torres Diéguez, head of the Innovation Laboratory for the Digital Transformation of the Culture Sector in Las Tunas (co-Lab), exclusively told the Cuban News Agency that the beta version of the application went beyond the prototype design because the team of developers managed to complete the challenge to show a complete and fully functional product.

Eris Michel Villavicencio Gómez and Joan Manuel Molina Gámez, both fifth-year Computer Science students at the University of Las Tunas, worked on open-source code for the Android version of mobile devices, which is why EsculTunas is suitable for use as a cultural tool to promote knowledge of the three-dimensional art movement in Las Tunas.

The methodology that the Innovation Lab proposes to validate is to design IT solutions based on the launching of challenges, a process that accepts consultations with citizens to find out how they want products of this type to access certain information, Torres Diéguez pointed out.

As part of the project, he added, there is also an Ideation Laboratory to agree on ideas about the programming language, objectives to be met, and other aspects that will ultimately form part of the application.

EsculTunas will be presented at the Cibersociedad Congress (Cybersociety), together with initiatives from the other four provinces that make up the co-Lab network in the country, an effort for digital transformation that is led by the Unión de Informáticos de Cuba and co-financed by the European Union.

Las Tunas, with the implementation of co-Lab and after the materialization of the physical space of the Digital Citizen Innovation Laboratory, has worked on capacity building and the gestation of initiatives that place it as a dynamic and co-creative space for local development.
