Las Tunas province reached the Outstanding Condition in the national emulation of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR). 

Las Tunas, Cuba.- This was announced by the new national coordinator of the organization, Gerardo Hernández Nordelo. The provinces of Cienfuegos, Guantánamo and Santiago de Cuba also achieved that category.

The also Hero of the Republic reported that the National Vanguard provinces were Pinar del Río and Granma. The recognition for the Balcony of Eastern Cuba comes when the country’s larger mass organization celebrates, this September 28, 60 years of being founded by the Historical Leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.

Hernández Nordelo specified that the physical distancing measures against the COVID-19 have prevented the implementation of the broad plan of activities initially conceived on the occasion of the anniversary. However, he added, the CDRs have been on the front line of the fight against the new coronavirus by taking part among the volunteers in the isolation centers and collaborating in the inquiries in the neighborhoods.

Las Tunas has been consolidating the functioning, stability and completion of its structures, which has allowed it to remain among the territories that have led the emulation in recent years. In 2020, the province also reaped the merit of having been the venue of the national act for the Voluntary Blood Donor Day.
