Reservoirs remain below 50 percent of their storage capacity

Barely nine millimeters of rain have run off in Las Tunas as a result of Tropical Storm Laura, which still affects the country.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Mirtha García Rojas, delegate of Hydraulic Resources in the territory, told before the Provincial Defense Council. "Although, the rainfall can continue in the remainder of this day intermittently," she said.

The municipalities in which it has rained the most so far are Jobabo, Las Tunas and Jesús Menéndez. And the most favored reservoirs have been Copo del Chato and Las Margaritas.

The directive recognized that the main benefits are for agriculture. No damage is reported in the hydraulic works that are currently being carried out in the province.

She assured that to the extent that the electricity service is restored in the affected areas, they will stabilize the pumping that guarantees the supply to the population.

Reservoirs, therefore, remain below 50 percent storage. This implies that in Las Tunas, a territory recognized as the driest in Cuba, saving continues to be vital during these months.
