823 thousand cigars were manufactured

At the end of the first semester of 2020, the province of Las Tunas has favorable productions in the three traditional lines that the agricultural sector markets abroad, and consolidates its intention to incorporate other exportable items.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Until the month of June, in the eight municipalities of Las Tunas were produced more than 205 tons of honey, out of a plan of 202.8 , which increases in relation to 2019 by about 53 tons.

The wax collection closed the first semester with almost four thousand 150 kilograms, for 117 percent of its commitments and a growth of 332 kilograms, compared to the previous year.

The collection of propolis exceeded 472 kilograms, also with a considerable increase, thanks to the effort of local beekeepers, who maintain the strategy of moving the hives to different places, depending on the flowering of the honey species.

During the first six months, 823 thousand cigars were manufactured, a figure higher than planned, and the conditions are created to fulfill the plan for the year, amounting to one million 830 thousand units.

As for charcoal, the province has agreed more than 17,500 tons for sale abroad and slight delays are reported, especially in the Flora and Fauna units, the Integrated Grain Company and the Agricultural Company of the municipality of “Jesús Menéndez.”

In the territory, new lines are added such as hot pepper, from which the seedbed was made in the semi-protected organoponico of the Las Tunas Agricultural Company, to carry out planting these days.

In addition, it is foresee the incorporation of beets and sweet potatoes, which will be sold to the Tropical Mixed Company, located in the Santiago municipality of Contramaestre, with which onion, bell pepper, tomato and mango have already been marketed.
