Workers from Radiocuba Company were granted the Proeza Laboral decoration

The workers of the Division of the Radiocuba Company continue reaping feats. Diplomas were awarded to a group of them for their outstanding role in the extension here during 2020 of digital terrestrial television in high definition (HD).

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The work of Ubeslando Ricardo Alarcón, Rubén Pérez Guerrero, Dannier Acosta González and Luis Leonardo Sierra Santiesteban was decisive for the assembly and successful start-up, last year, of the third donation from the People's Republic of China of two transmitters of digital terrestrial television (HD) in the municipalities of Las Tunas, Puerto Padre and Amancio. For this reason, the Union of Workers of Communications, Information Technology and Electronics issued them the Proeza Laboral decoration (Labor Feat).

"We had to comply with what was planned and it was known that we had to mount the transmitters in the shortest possible time to contribute to this great struggle to keep the signal on the air and inform the people of Las Tunas with better quality," Luis Leonardo Sierra Santiesteban told the press.

They fulfilled the task in shifts of up to 18 hours a day, between March 25 and April 4, 2020, precisely at a time when the country was going through the first outbreak of the new coronavirus, which is why severe quarantine measures were established and stoppage of non-essential activities or services.

However, Radiocuba remained in operation, as it is in charge of guaranteeing the transmission of radio and television signals throughout the country. In fact, during 2020 the entity did not stop its improvements in pursuit of a higher quality of the airing of educational and community channels, in the expansion of the modulated frequency of radio stations and, especially, in the migration to terrestrial standard and HD digital television.
