Cuban Workers' Confederation celebrates its 82nd anniversary

With the aspiration of achieving a prosperous and sustainable country, the Las Tunas labor movement celebrates the 82nd anniversary of the Cuban Workers’ Confederation (CTC in Spanish), which brings together more than 140,000 affiliates from the state sector and self-employees.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Leobanys Ávila Góngora, secretary-general of the organization, stressed that the celebration will take place in accordance with the current health situation and in support of the implementation of the Ordering Task, which requires the participation of the entire society.

"We have prepared the cadres in such a way that we are in a position to accompany the implementation of this process," he said, also highlighting that the supreme objective of such task is to boost the economy and seek greater efficiency and productivity for the benefit of the workers' income.

Ávila Góngora gave emphasis to the role of grassroots leaders in explaining every detail and in demanding that administrative departments clear up employees' doubts.

He also added that each union at the municipal and provincial level can become an entity for timely analysis, information and rectification when necessary. In this context, the assemblies of members are useful when incorporating the collective thought in the search for efficiency.

The labor leader added that the current situation of the pandemic forced to redesign the program with a view to the anniversary. Nevertheless, the call is maintained to beautify the work centers, recognize the most outstanding and put greater effort in vital actions such as the sugar harvest and food production, daily battles.

He also highlighted the performance of the 15 labor groups in the province in the confrontation with the COVID-19 and urged each inhabitant from Las Tunas to observe the measures directed by the country and local authorities in the current stage.

The Provincial Act for the 82nd anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Confederation must take place on January 28, in the municipality of Manatí, under strict security protocols and in a reduced composition, Ávila Góngora explained.

The results in the productive pole of Fleitas and in the affiliation of workers in the non-state sector, obtaining the venue of the celebration of the Educator’s Day, the permanence of the CTC staff in the territory and improvement in activities related to the local development are among the merits of Manatí to deserve the headquarters of the tribute to an organization that is a symbol of national history and labor unity in Cuba.
