Mercasa Agricultural Project

The Mercasa Agricultural Project, recognized in this province for the quality of its services, returns to the online commercialization of its fruit, vegetable, viand, condiments, and other products for families, through the Mercazona mobile application.

The good news comes almost a year after the launch of the application, which works as purchasing gateway between various businesses in the non-state sector and the more than 17,800 customers registered to date, which will now fully enjoy the productions of Mercasa through e-commerce.

Argel Frank Fundora Acosta, Mercasa's leading usufructuary, told the Cuban News Agency (ACN) that the most important thing is that the services will reach more households in the midst of the confrontation with the COVID-19 pandemic and a tense economic and food situation that has imposed on local governments the search for solutions.

The possibility means a true relaunching for both projects, since the innovative mobile application, which has positioned itself as one of the most effective within initiatives of this type in the country, initially demonstrated the value of the binomial created among the team of young people who lead Mercazona and the established producer.

Available in Las Tunas and some districts in the province of Villa Clara, the application is widely accepted and popular among its users because it gives them the possibility to choose, buy and receive their orders at the time and place they want. Mercazona was designed with an intuitive, fresh, fast and inexpensive interface, which must now be updated from the Cuban platform Apklis or the Play Store.

Érik González Ávila, in charge of advertising within Mercazona, pointed out to the ACN that the project's aspirations include being able to extend to the remaining municipalities of Las Tunas, as well as to the provinces of Holguín and Santiago de Cuba, and use the payment gateways EnZona and Transfermóvil.

Cafeteria, agricultural products market, pizzerias, restaurants, and home goods store are the modalities of the private sector inserted in the application; a notable step of Las Tunas in the interests of the computerization of society that already exceeds 50 thousand downloads in Apklis, as well as a great reception on social media like Facebook: 7,000 group members and 1,600 followers, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp and Telegram.

Although the service hours are subject to a trial stage, Mercasa and Mercazona will coupe their services as soon as possible to stabilize a varied and quality offer to their clients.
