La Paz.- Evo Morales welcomed several representatives of popular movements in the region that agree on the relaunching of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR). Delegations from Ecuador, Argentina, Venezuela and Bolivia took part in the first meeting in La Paz.

The former Bolivian president recalled that just as the indigenous people fought against the Spanish colony, now a solid union must be created for the development of Latin America. He said: "Our generation now has another challenge which is the Plurinational America to guarantee the liberation of future generations."

Venezuelan representatives took part in the meeting with diplomats from its Foreign Ministry and organizations grouped in the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity among Peoples (ISB).

The purpose of the gathering over the weekend was to raise UNASUR, an organization created for the union of the region and with the leadership of the former Venezuelan President Comandante Hugo Chávez, who had the support of leaders such as Rafael Correa of Ecuador and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva from Brazil.
