In the effort to become a High-Technology Company, ACINOX Las Tunas formalized collaborative relations with the University of this province, to link these two centers that contribute to the development of the territory.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The signing of the agreement is a fundamental step for this Stainless Steel Company to reach this category, as part of the national strategy to implement the new Science, Technology and Innovation (CTI) policies, as diagnosed by the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) when it announced that it was the entity with the best conditions in Las Tunas to hold such condition in the medium term.

Under the motto "The best steel with more science," based on scientific and technological research, innovation, and high-quality standards, the Company advances in the automation of production, the correct management of waste, the insertion of technological modifications to increase results, and obtain new products that substitute imports.

The University of Las Tunas is an important source for research due to the remarkable scientific potential that it exhibits in the training of Doctors, Masters in Sciences, and postgraduate specialists, an alliance that with the Business System translates into sovereignty, sustainability, and growth for the local development.

On the worktable of the steel industry in Las Tunas, there are research projects under development, such as the case of advanced automation for the production and refining of steel, and the treatment of residuals identified as white slag.

Among the successes for ACINOX to classify as a High-Tech Company, the existence of two PhDs in Science, 52 master's degrees, and the innovation activity of the Company concerning the automation of the steel casting processes in the Laminator stand out.

Three new master's degrees begin next month that are already classified within the company's new cycle of investigations, the Communication specialist Neyxi Sobrado told the Cuban News Agency, exclusively.

The innovation, led by automation engineer Guillermo González Yero, reduced costs and interruptions in production, made it more efficient, ensured the product quality, and humanized work, besides reducing the number of breakdowns in the emptying machine; and, therefore, it favored the productive sequence of the steelworks.

The projections contemplated within the agreement between the industry and the Academia focus on the reorganization of science, technology, and innovation entities, which includes two study centers of the University of Las Tunas, the Energy Efficiency and Technological Processes, and Pedagogical Studies.

Also, it is expected that the linkage between the two centers will lay the foundations for the future realization of a Science and Technology Park in this territory.
