Efraín Sánchez brought a donation for the "Guevara" Hospital

Small gestures, born of sensitivity, gratitude, and will are very valuable, especially in these difficult times for the economy and society of Cuba, in general, and of the province of Las Tunas, in particular.

Efraín Sánchez brought a donation for the "Guevara" HospitalLas Tunas, Cuba.- This is how the authorities of Dr. Ernesto Guevara de la Serna General Teaching Hospital, in this city, valued the contribution made by Efraín Sánchez Figueredo, driver of the Collection Company for six years, who responded to the call made by the provincial secretariat of the National Union of Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco Workers.

He did not think twice and went to the rural community of San Antonio, on the road to the city of Jobabo. His brother Alexis, another noble person who also wants to help, lives in that place.

“This is on my and his behalf, a small contribution for patients who are hospitalized at the center, either for COVID-19 or other diseases; 300 pounds of chunky banana, with the virtue that they were harvested by our hands.
"We intend to do it again, as soon as we can, because that is the way we feel useful, especially now that we that doctors and nurses are trying to save everyone's lives from such a dangerous virus."

Efraín hardly wants to speak because to his shyness is added a humility that hides even his words. He thinks that his gesture is a common action; although - he acknowledges - based on his gratitude because, today, his son is healthy at home.

“He is the only one in the family who has gotten sick. He is passing the Active Military Service (SMA, in Spanish); but these days we have him at home, recovering from the COVID-19, and we have to show our gratitude. It's the only thing that we can do.”

At the time of the donation, 1,156 people were admitted to the main health institution in Las Tunas, whose feeding benefited from this contribution.
