The Territorial Division of the Telecommunications Company of Cuba S.A. (ETECSA) has managed to reestablish more than two-thirds of all the interrupted services by the fire that occurred on December 16 at the main center of that entity in Las Tunas.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- According to the data supplied by the company, the higher progress comprises the Internet access zones through the Wi-Fi network; the 2G, 3G, and 4G telephony radio bases and, therefore, all associates to mobile telephony are fully operational. The connectivity of the companies supported by fiber optic is 98 percent, of the initially affected.

Of all the data lines and Nauta Hogar internet services damaged because of the sinister, 66 and 74 percent are already active, respectively. Meanwhile, the fixed lines, whose vitality was the one that suffered the most, are “back to life" by 84 percent.

In this last aspect, the ETECSA data reveal that the greatest job to be done is on the fixed lines dependent on the TDM technology existing at the Telecommunications Center of the city of Las Tunas. But, even in this issue, progress is important. While only 300 of these services had been recovered three days after the disaster, nine times as many were active again between 20 and 22 December. In fact, at the end of December 24, more than six thousand lines were re-established within such a section.

ETECSA Territorial Division in Las Tunas assured that it will continue to make progress with the work 24 hours a day, especially in the affected ties pending in the DSLAM cables (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer), which are digital subscriber access lines; these, within a digital telephone central, connect the telephone lines that have been contracted by the ADSL connection, usually through the optical fiber.
