"Mi amiga Alicia"2019 said goodbye, but it left a spring of memories, some pleasant, some less. The culture, the seed of the people in the warp of time, evokes some of its prints in Las Tunas.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The 9th Uneac Congress served as a platform for the debate of the achievements and challenges of the organization; and the artistic avant-garde of the province elected a new board, with Marina Lourdes Jacobo as president.

The performing arts had a superlative year with the opening here of the National Clown School, the international tours of Teatro Tuyo and Total Teatro, the premiere of plays by Los Zahoríes Puppeteer Company, and the repair of some of its institutions.

The world of the letters, on the other hand, had a Book Fair with successes and mistakes, and some writers won international awards. However, we receive with pain the death of the poet Antonio Borrego and the desert prize of the Guillermo Vidal National Narrative Contest.

The Cucalambeana Fiesta was once again the mecca of our peasant traditions. Personalities such as José Antonio Iznaga (El Jilguerito de Cienfuegos) and Merceditas Isla joined the revelry.

The presentations made in our territory brought us closer to the work of prestigious art exponents such as the Aragón Orchestra, the Lucas project, La Colmenita and the Las Estaciones theater group.

The Ánfora Magic Festival showed greater summons than in other calendars. Among those present were Thom Bedlam (Canada) and María Ibáñez (Cuban-American), with an outstanding track record in that artistic expression.

The Entre Música Meeting, of the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), was ratified as one of the events with the greatest impact, with the participation of artists such as Eduardo Sosa, Rey Montalvo, Michel Herrera and Inti Santana.

Our galleries hosted several exhibitions, and the most outstanding was Mi Amiga Alicia (My Friend Alicia), from Nelson Domínguez, National Plastic Arts Prize, which was a moment of homage to Alicia Alonso, whose death the inhabitants of Las Tunas mourned so much.

Other special events were the 15th edition of the Barbarito Diez Popular Music Festival, which honored who is considered the Golden Voice of the Danzón on his 110th birthday; and the celebrations for the twentieth anniversary of the TunasVisión local TV.
