With the introduction of much higher prices, quality assurance is now required in each gastronomic unit

Since the Ordering Task began, the Las Tunas gastronomy sector has been subjected to scrutiny in search of more accessible prices without sacrificing profitability.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- At first, the excessively high rates raised popular concerns; given the new ones, more grounded in the real possibilities of consumers, the challenge of continuing to adapt services to current demands is imposed.

With the introduction of much higher prices, quality assurance is now required in each gastronomic unit, an old desire that has rarely been materialized in the traditional commercial networks.

Luis Manuel Páez, director of Gastronomy of the Business Group of Commerce in the province, assured that within the branch it has been a priority to ensure that each production process is carried out with possible and precise standards of efficiency.

"Our popular network, which has 228 units, has the goal of bringing food made with the quality deserved by Las Tunas people," Páez said. We have already met with the suppliers and made it clear to them that we are not going to accept products that do not comply with the established parameters, such as cheese, sausages, ice cream, or agricultural products.

"A process that also requires a change of mind, to act creatively and demonstrate skills in gastronomic activity has just started. At this point, we are not going to allow any worker to ignore the weight or not do their job in the best possible way. The soft drink, for example, must be served cold, as well as with optimal hygiene conditions.

“We are working to keep cafeterias supplied during peak hours, especially those located in hospitals, schools, funeral homes, transport stations. The 144 facilities of this type, in the third category today, are subject to the same prices.

“We want to reiterate to the population that we have 21 second-category establishments that will - of course- have different prices, for example, La Milanesa, La Cadena, and Birama pizzerias.

"Starting this week, supplies in restaurants will increase and the sale of ice cream will begin at 3.30 pesos and 3.65 with a waffle.”

In February, the improvement process and change of management will also begin in five restaurants in the province, an action that in the near future will be extended to the rest of the gastronomy network, in search of higher rates of profitability and variety of offers.
