Periódico 26 was awarded for the best academic work that pays tribute to the Cuban press model, at the 4th Julio Garcia Luis Press Festival 2024.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The newspaper deserved the award "for the quality of the project presented, which systematizes an extensive bibliography for the understanding of the convergence process from a multidimensional vision, under the conception of hypermedia production logic.

"This has been expressed in the editorial and digital transformation of the press medium, in the consolidation of a content management platform, and the contribution to social transformation with the conversion of the newspaper's headquarters into a community cultural center," added the jury, made up of professionals Iraida Calzadilla Rodríguez, Lázaro Manuel Alonso Castro, Yuris Nórido Ruiz, Mariana Camejo Alfonso, and Ana Teresa Badía Valdés.

Accompanying the press organ on the podium of innovative media in Cuba were: Ideas Multimedios, the Escambray and Trabajadores newspapers, along with the Cuban News Agency (ACN) and the Juventud Técnica magazine.

It is the second time that our newspaper has been awarded in the new era of this professional event. Last year we won one of the national awards for Journalistic Innovation Juan Antonio Borrego 2023.

This time, 28 projects were presented from 11 provincial and six national media, and two universities in the country: the Central Marta Abreu, in Villa Clara, and the Ignacio Agramonte, in Camagüey.
