Pitcher Alejandro Meneses

In the midst of all the feverish hustle and bustle that the Julio Antonio Mella Stadium is experiencing right now with the training of the Leñadores (Lumberjacks), pitcher Alejandro Meneses is perhaps the happiest of all, after an injury to his pitching arm forced him to stop two long years.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- In that period, overwhelmed by uncertainty and pain, he even saw his teammates become Champions of Cuba. "It was a combination of joy and sadness: happy for the guys and sad because I was crazy to be with them and do my bit in victory," says the Bartle pitcher.

“It has been quite a complex process. The operation was very complicated, almost three hours inside the room, and then the recovery during a year without pitching: big sacrifice, physiotherapy, a lot of pain, but thanks God everything went well," he adds.

“It is something very nice to be here with all my teammates. I worked so hard for that, every day of pain and effort was just thinking about being here, and luckily two years later I was able to pitch again,” he confesses.

“Psychologically I feel very strong, with a lot of confidence, the coaches Correa and Félix are helping me a lot, and also the psychologist; in addition to the reception of my colleagues, all very happy with my return. The rest depends on me, to give everything, as always, to have a great result in this National Series," says the 24-year-old right-hander.

His coaches Rodolfo Correa and Félix Núñez agree that he seems completely recovered. El Látigo from “Colombia” tells us that he sees him hard, without problems, while Correa considers that “right now he does not have any type of limitation regarding his repertoire. What is lacking, what we still have to evaluate, is his ability to add intensity to the work of the arm, which is what generally makes it difficult for pitchers who come out of injuries.”

With international experience in the 2018 Pan American U-23, Alejandro Meneses could start by lending a hand in the bullpen and, as he regains his sensations on the mound, begin to receive more responsibilities within the staff that two years ago he was destined to lead.
