Under the command of mentor Pablo Alberto Civil, from Las Tunas, the team that will attend the Caribbean Baseball Cup defeated the preselection that is preparing for the Americas Pre-Olympic tournament 5x0 today, a result that has occurred in three of the four games carried out so far in Matanzas.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Four pitchers combined their work to whiten the squad led by Armando Ferrer, although the headquarters have insisted on the different moments in which both groups are, with whom will be in Curaçao much closer to the best competitive way. Even so, the solvency with which the right-handers Pablo Luis, Yánder Guevara, Yadián Martínez and Frank Abel Álvarez performed on the mound of the Victoria de Girón stadium drew attention.

Those of the senior team could barely connect four uncatchable, coming from the woods of Granma's Guillermo Avilés; Yadil Mujica, from Matanzas; and Alexánder Ayala, from Camagüey, who was the only one with a multi-hit day.

Las Tunas’ Rafael Viñales, placed as catcher and fourth batter, went 3-0; while the left-handed pitcher Yudiel Rodríguez allowed a hit and gave a walk in two-thirds of work as Ferrer's first reliever.

For the winners, and according to the report of the Radio Rebelde journalist Guillermo Rodríguez, the receiver Iván Prieto stood out with a home run and two RBIs in twice at-bats; while first baseman Guillermo García, MVP of the final won by the Granma Sorrels, went 2-1 with an RBI, another scored, and a couple of walks.

Those led by Pablo Civil had eight hits in the match and took advantage of ace Lázaro Blanco's departure from the mound to tilt the score in their favor. Blanco did not accept hits or runs for 3.1 innings, and Yudiel Rodríguez - from Las Tunas - was in charge of preserving the zero on the board, by getting the last two outs of the fourth inning. However, the capital's Bryan Chi endured three earned runs and five hits in 2.0 innings; while in the seventh act, Frank Madam, from Camagüey, allowed another two runs on a single and Prieto's home run.

The long enlistment stage of both groups will continue this Saturday when the fifth preparation match takes place. Once the game is over, there could be a first cut in the preselection from which the team looking for the Olympic ticket will come out next month in Florida, the United States.
