Russia calls to investigate US involvement in coronavirus outbreak

The head of the Russian Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, today called on the UN to carry out an independent investigation into the involvement of the United States in the appearance of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Moscow.- Mr. Volodin pointed out that there are 336 biological laboratories in 30 countries under the Pentagon’s control, capable of developing the aforementioned virus, the Russian news agency Sputnik reported on Saturday.

The United States is obliged to ‘compensate countries for the costs of the consequences of the pandemic,’ the leader of the lower house of the Russian parliament added.

Since March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization classifies Covid-19 disease, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected at the end of 2019, as a pandemic.

Globally, more than 629 million cases of infection by the pathogen have been reported, including about 6.6 million deaths, reported Johns Hopkins University in the United States. (PL)
