The 23rd Summit of the ALBA-TCP is held today in Caracas.

The member countries of ALBA-TCP hold the 23rd Summit of Heads of State and Government of the bloc in Caracas, where the presentation of the 2030 Strategic Agenda is expected.

Caracas.- The Summit was announced last week by the executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, during the celebration of the meeting for a Global Social Alternative, which had the presence of 300 delegates from 60 countries, including guests from Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America.

The majority of Heads of State and Government or heads of delegations are expected to participate in the Summit, a source informed Prensa Latina, according to whom the 2030 Strategic Agenda presented by Arreaza to the delegates of the meeting to a Global Social Alternative must be approved, and will be focused on five axes: economic, political, social, cultural and communication.

At the April 18th and 19th gathering, Arreaza forwarded the presentation “The principle of unity as a transformative element” and stated that the block’s objective is to achieve self-determination. He also said, “We are free and happy with needs met” and added that the strategy includes new projects to strengthen plans in sectors such as the economy, health, education, food, and environmental protection.

Politically, the 2030 objectives aim to establish a network to protect Human and Social Rights, turning the block into the coordinating main engine and creating the ALBA-TCP Parliamentary Network and the ALBA-Youth space.

The economic axis plans to reinforce Petrocaribe, expand the ALBA Bank to create a new financial architecture and promote tourism alliances, among other issues.

The social agenda includes resuming the “Miracle Mission”, which benefited more than four million people worldwide, relaunching ALBA as a territory free of illiteracy, coordinating educational and health policies, and establishing a gender observatory. (PL)
