Brasilia.- "If necessary" he would be a presidential candidate to defeat the forces of "a fascist-like Bolsonaro, a genocidal for being the one most responsible for the chaos in the pandemic" of coronavirus, Lula da Silva said in an interview with the Argentinean television station C5N.

"I am in good health. But it doesn't necessarily have to be me. We can choose someone who can represent the progressive sectors of Brazil," said Lula da Silva. The former Brazilian president and social leader made these statements shortly after the Supreme Federal Court (STF) ratified the annulment of his corruption convictions against him.

Lula da Silva expects Brazil to return to the democratic path and hopes to participate in this process to restore hope and joy to the Brazilian people. "We have already done it once and we can do it once again."

Regarding the judicial and political persecution against him, he emphasized that it has been a fabrication from the beginning. "It has been a very big lie. But my lawyers proved that it was a farce. The judge lied, the prosecutors lied, the federal police lied, to keep me away from the election campaign. Now I am ready for the fight," said the former president. (RHC)
