The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Said Jatibzade on Monday urged the United States to lift all sanctions on his country, the main beneficiary of a possible agreement in Vienna, Austria.

Tehran.- All components of US pressure must be eliminated. Our stance, logic, and arguments are clear, Mr. Jatibzade remarked at a press conference.

In his statements, he stressed that Washington’s so-called maximum pressure policy slows down the 2015 nuclear agreement reactivation and prevents Iran from benefiting from the interests of the pact.

“We have not yet reached the point where the US side shows that it is fulfilling its obligations (…) What is important for us is the economic result and that the Iranian people benefit from the lifting of sanctions,” he stressed.

The United States violated resolution 2231 of the UN Security Council (UNSC) in its unilateral withdrawal in May 2018 from the nuclear agreement officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The P5+1-Iran talks in Vienna completed eight rounds of debates for resuming JCPOA, in which the United States participates indirectly.

Over the weekend, Iran once again condemned excessive US demands and reaffirmed that it will go on a diplomatic path to reach a good, strong, and lasting agreement in Vienna.

According to Iran, Washington must take a more realistic view and make a political decision as soon as possible if it wants to be part of the JCPOA anew. (PL)
