The convention included eight workshops.

Academic authorities, researchers, business leaders, and students gathered at the University of Las Tunas (LTU) for the 5th International Scientific Convention and Expo Fair 2025, which transformed the Higher Education institution into a true science and innovation hub. Mexico, which maintains historical and academic ties with Cuba, was honored this year.

Las Tunas, Cuba.– Under the motto "University, Knowledge, and Innovation for Sustainable Development," the conference is part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Esencia Universitaria chapter, consolidating the host university as a space for international thought and cooperation.

During the inauguration, the organizers expressed joy at receiving more than 200 delegates from institutions in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Angola, Argentina, France, Chile, and Mexico. Participation combined in-person and virtual modalities and included representatives from more than 20 export-oriented cities.

The welcoming remarks evoked José Martí's thought: "Knowledge is the light that guides the people." This idea guided the event's purpose, which sought to strengthen scientific ties between Cuba and Mexico through academic exchange, innovation, and professional training.

One of the most anticipated moments occurred with the opening lecture by Andrés Valdivia Ruiz, a Mexican academic with extensive experience in teaching and visual communication. With studies at the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes and institutions such as the Monterrey Institute of Technology and the CIFE (Federal Institute of Technology), the professor shared a humanistic and transformative vision of education.

In his presentation, Valdivia recalled his experiences as a course facilitator, digital media designer, and editor of cultural projects. His address outlined a horizon for considering new, more inclusive, and creative pedagogical paths in tune with contemporary challenges.

The convention included eight workshops that generated debates on sustainability, technology, education, health, entrepreneurship, and university management. The business forum, dedicated to proposing practical solutions for the regional economy, became one of the most dynamic spaces.

During the academic sessions, research was analyzed, and experiences were shared on how higher education can respond to the Sustainable Development Goals. The diverse range of topics allowed for problems to be viewed from multiple angles, enabling responses to be developed with a multidisciplinary approach.

The Expo Fair, a kind of showcase of entrepreneurial initiatives, community projects, technological goods, and cultural offerings, complemented the agenda. The audience learned about innovative products and established relationships with economic stakeholders from other regions.

The support of more than 20 local companies facilitated the university-society link, enabling the identification of exportable funds and the promotion of products with commercial potential. These exchanges strengthened the relationship between the Academia and the productive sector.

The organizers emphasized that this edition has allowed them to discover new clients, expand international contacts, and establish strategic alliances.
The Convention helps connect science with the real needs of communities from a social and transformative perspective.
