Using the facemask is mandatory in places of crowded people

The authorities in the province reaffirm the need to comply with the guidelines, maintain hygienic-sanitary measures and use the facemask in places of crowded people during this second phase of the first stage of the post-COVID-19 recovery.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Jaime Chiang Vega, vice president of the Provincial Defense Council (CDP), stressed to local Radio that the discipline and cooperation of most of the people of Las Tunas have allowed safe passage in the confrontation with the new coronavirus, causing from so many infections and deaths on the planet.

From the health panorama, he also reported that today the province has a high rate of infestation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, especially in the municipalities of Puerto Padre, Las Tunas and Manatí. Although there is no local transmission of dengue, he said, there is a risk of the disease developing.

Chiang Vega spoke of the importance of the reincorporation of workers to state and non-state activity without neglecting sanitary protocols, taking into account the impact of the pandemic on production levels worldwide. In the case of Cuba, he said, the intensification of the blockade of the United States is added in its desire to suffocate and limit commercial transactions.

He pointed out that Commerce and Gastronomy must be distinguished by the quality and creativity of their offerings, even in the midst of this complex scenario. "Let's not forget that this sector is in a stage of improvement, which must be marked by quality and respect for the people," he said.

Regarding agriculture, he said that dissatisfaction prevails among managers over the production and distribution levels reached. “We have to work much more so that the sowing hectares are translated into products of the daily diet of the inhabitants. We are focused on achieving that goal and it is our first priority.”

He insisted that they dedicate an important part of the time to the search for alternatives and areas of higher yields; all this, without neglecting "the commercialization and the adoption of the necessary measures so that these products go to their intended destination and with the appropriate price."

"We have received guidance from the highest country leadership and we have the willingness to promote as many forms of commercialization as possible, guarantee faster, greater opportunity and better prices," he concluded.

Manuel Pérez Gallego, president of the CDP, explained that at this stage it is not possible to maintain the sale through the ration card in the Caribe and Cimex chain stores. Such a decision brought back indiscipline such as hoarding and the sale of tickets. He assured that the measures to eliminate this social evil will be adopted, at the same time that he requested the support of the residents by means of the opportune denunciation and the confrontation with the police force.

Daily, before starting the sale in the units, the people in line will be informed of the available quantity of high-demand toiletries, chicken, oil and others.

Pérez Gallego recognized the will and commitment of the people during this period. However, citizens' awareness and understanding are still necessary, as various restrictions remain in the current recovery phase.

Finally, he affirmed that there are assurances and initiatives to promote healthy recreation during this summer season in which the priority is to take care of life.
