The health authorities estimate that starting next Wednesday the Guillermo Domínguez hospital, in the municipality of Puerto Padre, will host positive patients for COVID-19 in this province, who are currently being treated at the “Fermín Valdés,” in Holguín.
Las Tunas, Cuba.- According to Dr. Viviana Gutiérrez Rodríguez, director of Health in Las Tunas, the workgroups are already designed to assist those suffering from severe acute respiratory infections and those confirmed with the disease in the referred health institution.
Since the decision was made, the reorganization of services has been necessary. For example, emergency consultations, surgery, orthopedics, otorhinolaryngology, gynecology ... were distributed in different areas of the Romárico Oro polyclinic. Others such as maternity, hemodialysis, and some major specialties will be attended at the Ernesto Guevara provincial hospital.
Gutiérrez reported on local radio that the treatments for COVID-19 patients are based on increased immunity, that is, immunomodulators that allow the body to defend itself against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
In the nation, protocols have been established that vary according to the behavior of those affected. “We use Biomodulin T for vulnerable groups and contacts. We also use the homeopathic medicine PrevengHo-Vir, in social institutions and in populations such as ‘Jesús Menéndez’ and Puerto Padre.”
The treatment for traveler cases is very similar and incorporates the transfer factor, of which there is enough availability of doses for its application, even after discharge from primary health care.
Suspects and confirmed cases have a more comprehensive procedure. In addition to immunomodulators, they use antibacterials (azithromycin ...) and antivirals such as oseltamivir, chloroquine, and interferon, depending on the patient's condition.
In Puerto Padre, the municipality with the highest incidence of COVID-19, extreme measures have been taken to prevent the spread in the healthy population. A radio report indicated that they located points for the disinfection of transport and passenger control. Likewise, a center for people with wandering behavior was set up.
