Las Tunas population fully supports measures implemented for prevention and control of COVID-19

The measures announced at the Round Table TV program on Friday due to the progression of the new coronavirus are still the talk of the population of this city, which showed their satisfaction and confidence in the Revolution for decisions such as those taken.

The people that the Cuban News Agency contacted to discuss the issue agreed on the approval of the measures, and expressed pride that Cuban Health professionals left for other countries in solidarity aid.

“That is what we expected, that the arrival of more foreigners would not be allowed, it is the only way to stop the contagion,” said Ramón Naranjo, while depositing in his cart the solid waste that he usually collects as part of his work in Communal Services.

“It had to be done, there was no other alternative,” said housewife Maritza Salgado, who added that “Cuba is not one of the complicated countries, but it is necessary to ensure that instead of increasing, the cases decrease.”

Yelenis de Armas, a worker of the National Tax Administration Office in the municipality of Las Tunas, stressed that she will try “not to be where there is a lot of crowds and keep in full surveillance my little Ernesto, 6 years old, and my grandmother Justina Escalona, who is already 100.”

“Cuba has been impressive for its capacity and sense of humanism. Having the country organized to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, facilitating the entry to the British cruise ship when other countries refused and, moreover, that doctors and nurses leave to help; it seems like a fable, but it is a reality and in turn a slap in the way of the eternal enemies of the Revolution,” said Professor Rubén Consuegra.

The province of Las Tunas has already begun adopting measures, such as the suspension of the agricultural fairs that were held every weekend, especially that of the provincial capital, in the 26 de Julio Park, due to the overcrowding of people who attended to acquire a diversity of products. But those offers will continue to be provided to the population in a scattered way.

Also, on the initiative of the territory, the distribution of soap and toothpaste through the ration card began, on a provisional basis this month, until the supply of these toiletries is normalized.
