The governor of Las Tunas, Jaime Chiang Vega

The governor of Las Tunas, Jaime Chiang Vega, called on the people of Las Tunas to responsibly comply with the measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, and to enhance the values of solidarity, thinking not only about taking care of the own health, but that of others.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- In appearing on the Alto y Claro radio program, he highlighted that from the first cases detected in the city of Wuhan, China, the Cuban nation conceived the implementation of actions. "Today we are in the pre-epidemic phase of the disease and here we also constituted our working group, made up of different organisms."

He said that in order to counteract this pandemic, the Health System must be supported, and for this, resources are necessary; which on many occasions are acquired in foreign countries. “We have to maintain trade and sustain the economy, which also means guaranteeing the livelihood of families.”

"2020 has started with a tightening of the blockade, which had been coming since the previous year, to suffocate the country, limit access to markets, technologies and financing, perceived, above all, in the fuel deficit."

Chiang Vega stated that beyond the fence, the will to overcome any difficulty must prevail. "We must look internally for all the alternatives and unlock various issues that depend on the consistent action of each of us."

Precisely, the update of the plan to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus also aims to make it easier for people to access resources for survival in the event of greater contagion.

To date, in Las Tunas, more than 140 people remain under surveillance in the health areas, and those with symptoms of the disease are admitted to the isolation center.
