The province of Las Tunas enlists specialists and residents of the Medical Sciences according to the COVID-19 treatment protocols. The Henry Reeve contingent and the Public Health Systems of other Cuban provinces have some of them in their ranks.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Training programs for updating medical procedures in patients with the new coronavirus have made it possible to have qualified health personnel. The fact is that the current epidemiological contingency - which began in Cuba in March 2020 - demands better healthcare preparedness.

Our professionals are inserted in the current health dynamics of the country, even attentive to international news; bibliographic reviews are made with the latest on the subject. We went to the Internet, we exchanged with specialists from other countries, and thus we have been adjusting our teaching programs to achieve optimal training in the care of positive to the new coronavirus,” Dr. Estrella Romero Valdivia, teaching coordinator of Intensive Medicine and Emergencies, of the General Teaching Hospital Doctor Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, explains.

Health professionals from this eastern territory have supported nations such as Panama, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Qatar, Equatorial Guinea, Italy and Mexico in the fight against the pandemic. Likewise, Cuban provinces with greater epidemiological complications such as Havana, Ciego de Ávila and Holguín have received solidarity services from Las Tunas during these months.
