A severe local storm was reported on Friday afternoon in the municipality of Jobabo, to the south of Las Tunas.

Jobabo, Las Tunas.- Yaidel Miguel Rodríguez Castro, a journalist with Radio Cabaniguán station, reported through social media that it damaged state facilities, homes, and electricity and telephone.

The total collapse of a house and damage to the roof of ten others are among the damages caused by the meteorological phenomenon, although local authorities are still counting them.

Experts from the Provincial Meteorological Center explained that the situation was caused by the influence of a trough in combination with the great weather instability and the strong daytime warming.

They also specified that the occurrence of severe local storms is common at this time of the year, having already reported similar events in the province in 2023.
