Ulises Guilarte, secretary-general of the Cuban Central Workers Union delivered the Flag

Combatants of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT by its acronym in Spanish) and the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), together with other civilian defense workers in Las Tunas, received the Proeza Laboral Flag (Labor Prowess), for their commendable work during the meteorological events that affected the province in recent months.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The secretary-general of the Cuban Central Workers Union, Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, handed over the banner in the Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Vicente García, in this city, and praised the recognition for the results achieved.

He highlighted the role of these armed forces during the last meteorological events in the east of the country, with meritorious work for the courage shown by their combatants and civilian workers, and the complete disposition of their combat means in the function of the fulfillment of the strategic objectives aimed at the preservation of human lives, animals and the resources of the economy.

The member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba assured that the aptitude and the protagonist of the FAR and the MININT in the face of the adversities of nature have been exemplary, as they do in the care of the Homeland and the tranquility of the citizens, and that is why the trade union movement, starting with the Union of Civilian Defense Workers, decided to recognize them with this flag, which is a banner of combat.

"In our opinion, it is a just and well-deserved recognition of that example and that work, of their performance and contribution, which is complemented by the fact that today there is no doubt that an important part of the industrial plant of the country's armed institutions is at the disposal of the economy and society, contributing to the generation of goods and services for the people," he said.

After handing over the flag, Guilarte de Nacimiento shared in an atmosphere of camaraderie with the representation of the combatants of the FAR and the MININT, between anecdotes and commitments to continue maintaining the tranquility of the nation's citizens.

The Labor Prowess Flag, awarded to the Union of Defense Workers in Las Tunas, is given to groups that carry out extraordinary actions in a determined period, with fidelity to the principles of the working class.
