Active Military ServiceWith the implementation of all the measures established for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 and taking into account the need to maintain the country's defensive preparation, the calls for young people to join the Active Military Service (SMA by its Spanish acronyms) of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) have been resumed last September 1. 

Las Tunas, Cuba.- According to Lieutenant Colonel Juan Ramón Escalona Machado, head of the Provincial Military Committee, "all young people who are 17 years of age and older who are available and do not study at any teaching level, will be notified to the SMA from this month."

Meanwhile, "the call for the students who are now in the twelfth grade will be made after the entrance exams and the granting of scholarships, with dates that will be announced in the upcoming days," said the official.

Students who obtain scholarships in Higher Education will leave the SMA in the month of August next year and this will facilitate their enrollment in the next school year, concluded the head of the Provincial Military Committee.
